Chapter 25
After defeating the androids back at Makai, the group decided to head back to Rick’s mansion. They were in the dining room as usual, discussing plans while eating their dinner. They were planning how to infiltrate the base again since the army would surely fortify it since they know they’re going to attack again.
“How about the android that Dr. Gero talked about? The one that was created with our cells. I’m sure we’ll encounter him,” Chunli blurted out.
“You know, I almost forgot about him,” Rick said.
“Let’s just worry about it when we get there,” Vegeta scoffed.
“You’re right. Let’s get some sleep,” Rick suggested.
“Yeah, it’s been a long day,” Cloud sighed and exited the room with Dennis and Vincent.
“I’m tired too, I’m going to sleep,” Chunli yawned and left the room as well with Rick.
Vegeta was about to leave the room too but he found Brass sneaking out the window. “Where are you going? Can’t you use a door?” he asked, forking up an eyebrow.
“What I do is none of your business,” the tan-haired ninja snarled.
“My, you’re a rude person... I like it.”
“Humph, it’s not that I’m rude. I just don’t still trust you and the others either.”
“Why?”
“I trust no one, except my clan but they’re gone...”
“You know kid, I know how you feel.”
“How?”
“I’m also the last of my people, they were all killed by someone.”
“What? By who?”
“I don’t care, what matters is that they’ve been avenged.”
“Well, good for you. I’m out of here and good night.”
“Vapor...” Vaporeon whimpered.
“Are you tired?” Brass asked him. Vaporeon nodded.
“Fine, go to our room and sleep.” Vaporeon obeyed him and left the room.
“Arbok, go with him,” Vegeta told the giant cobra.
“Char,” Arbok nodded and accompanied Vaporeon out of the room.
“Wherever you’re going, I’m coming with you,” Vegeta smirked.
“Do whatever you want since I’m just going to spar with myself,” Brass snorted and jumped out of the window. Vegeta jumped out of the window too and landed beside him.
“I’ll spar with you.”
“Spa... spar... with... me?” Brass stammered.
“Yeah, what’s wrong?” Vegeta asked, forking up an eyebrow.
“Nothing. I’ve always wanted to test my skills against you.”
“Gee, I’m flattered,” Vegeta said sarcastically and fired a beam at him. Brass jumped high in the air, dodging the beam and disappeared. “Hmm, he likes jumping. He has an advantage in the air,” he thought.
“Surprise!” Brass yelled as he appeared behind Vegeta and punched him on the back. His punch sent the Saiyan Prince flying to a tree. As soon as Vegeta recovered from his attack, he began to fire ice beams with his gun arm.
“You’re pretty good kid, but not good enough!” Vegeta charged at him while dodging his attacks.
“This looks bad.” Brass jumped high in the air again while firing ice beams.
“Let’s finish this!” Vegeta teleported behind him and hammered him on the back, sending him down to the ground. A loud thud echoed throughout the yard as the ninja crashed. He got up to his feet with the help of his staff and looked for Vegeta.
“Boo, I’m right behind you,” the Saiyan Prince chuckled.
“Huh?” Brass gasped and back flipped away from him.
“Give it up kid, you can’t win as long as you take hits the way you do. And your stealth won’t help you on this match either.”
“I guess you’re right. I need more training,” Brass sighed. The young ninja looked at his hand hopelessly and sank on the ground.
“Say, what are you going to do when this whole thing is over?” Vegeta asked as he walked up to him.
“I don’t know... I have no friends, no families... they’re all gone...”
“How about Vaporeon?”
“He’s not mine, he just tags along. I don’t know why.”
“I see...”
“Hmm, maybe I’ll fight crime to seek more revenge for my clan’s death.”
“You know kid, there’s more to life than that.”
“How would you know?!!”
“I’m a person who likes fighting. All my life I’ve done nothing except fighting, until I had a family. There’s a whole world out there. Who knows? Maybe, you’ll have a family of your own someday. Don’t throw your life away like I did.”
“I guess you’re right. When this job is done, I’ll return to a normal life. I’ll live as an ordinary person as I’ve always dreamed.”
“Yeah, that’s good.”
“Thanks Vegeta.”
“Come on, tomorrow we’re going to beat that army once and for all so we need to rest.” Brass got up and walked back to the mansion with Vegeta.
