Chapter 18
A day has passed since the androids’ attack. The people of Gongaga were scared to go outside,
scared that the androids might come. Brass was sitting on a tree branch with Vaporeon, looking
at the clear blue sky, to see if any androids were coming.
“When do you think they’ll come?” Brass asked the water canine. Vaporeon just remained silent.
“Okay, I’ll take that as an I don’t know.”
“Hey Brass!” Chunli called down from below.
“Yes?”
“Come down here, it’s lunch.”
“No thanks. I can catch my own food. Besides, I don’t have any money to pay for lunch.”
“I’ll pay for your lunch then, silly.” With that said, the Kogan Ninja jumped down from the tree
with Vaporeon. “Let’s go!” Chunli cried and took the ninja’s arm.

Meanwhile:
“One down, two to go,” Vegeta chuckled, standing in front of a destroyed military base.
“Yeah and Dr. Gero is bound to be in one of those bases,” Cloud said.
“Hmmm. Guys, why won’t we visit Chunli and Rick? It’s been two weeks since we left them,”
Dennis suggested.
“You’re right, poor girl. First her father got murdered, second she got dumped by a battle hungry
boyfriend, and now Rick. I hope she’s okay, she’s been through a lot of tough times. Come on
you guys, let’s go back to the Highwind,” Cloud added.

Chunli and Brass finished lunch and were now watching over Rick. “Any idea when he might
wake up?” Brass asked Chunli.
“I don’t know...” Chunli sighed.
“Uh, I’ll go out to patrol the village, see if any androids are coming,” he said.
“Go ahead...” Chunli watched the Kogan ninja exit the hut with Vaporeon and then turned to
Rick. She looked at him hopelessly and began to sob on his chest. “Huh?” she gasped, she felt a
hand on her cheek. She bent up and looked at Rick’s face, his eyes were opening slowly. “Rick?”
“Chunli? Where am I?” he asked groggily.
“You’re in a hut. You fell down the river, remember?”
“I remember now...” he mumbled, sitting up.
“You stupid jerk! You gave me quite a scare,” Chunli said playfully and hugged him.
“Watch out for my ribs...” Rick winced. At that moment, Brass entered the hut and found the
two hugging each other.
“I think your friends are here... oh, I think I came at a bad time,” Brass chuckled embarrassingly.
“It’s okay,” Chunli said, letting go of Rick. Vegeta, Arbok, Cloud, Dennis, and Vincent then
entered.
“Whoa! Commando man you’re back!” Cloud exclaimed.
“Yeah, it’s good to be back,” Rick smiled.
“Hey guys, who’s the ninja?” Dennis asked Chunli and Rick.
“Oh! His name is Strider Brass but you can call him Brass for short. He’s after Dr. Gero too, I
asked him to stay with us,” Chunli answered. Chunli and Brass then told everyone what happened
the past few days, the androids and about Brass’ past and motives.

After telling Brass’ story:
“Uh-huh, I guess we better get going,” Vegeta said.
“Wait a minute!” the doctor interjected as he came in the hut. “My patient is not leaving until he
fully recovers.”
“But doctor, I feel okay, but my abdominal muscles are still a little sore but I’ll be okay,” Rick
reasoned.
“The answer is no.”
“I’ll pay you a lot of money.”
“No.”
“Oh for the love of God, let’s just get out of here! He can’t stop us! What is HE going to do?”
Vincent groaned. Vincent pushed the doctor out of the door way and exited the hut and everyone
followed.
“You don’t know what you’re doing!!! Come back here!!!” the doctor yelled from the hut but
they just ignored him and walked out of the village.
