Chapter 15
Rick woke up as the sunlight from the windows touched his face. He got up from bed, washed his mouth and face and then changed to his blue costume. After that ordeal, he went to the dining room and found everyone eating.
“Good morning everybody,” he greeted.
“Hey,” they all greeted back, except for Vincent, he remained silent. Rick sat down and joined them.

“We’re leaving in an hour to find Dr. Gero,” Cloud announced as they all finished eating.
“Wait, we’re after him now? What about the Red Ribbon Army? Just because their main base was destroyed doesn’t mean they’re finished. They still have some small bases left,” Rick said, stopping everyone from leaving the room.
“Three bases left to be exact,” Chunli interjected.
“We’re still after the Red Ribbon Army but our primary target is Dr. Gero.”
“Yeah, let’s get him first,” Chunli, Dennis, and Vincent agreed.
“Gee, why do all of you hate him so much?” Rick asked.
“Okay, I’ll explain.” Dennis sat back down and took a deep breath. “You see, Vincent and I are not from this world. Earth is a planet with many parallel worlds. Me and Vincent come from a parellel world called Makai. It’s exactly like this world except the inhabitants are monsters.”
“What? You mean...”
“Yes, we’re monsters. I’m a werefox (Youko) and Vincent is a goblin. We look like humans because we can disguise ourselves. About Dr. Itchigaki or Dr. Gero, whatever he calls himself now, I’ll tell you how we met him. The Makai holds a tournament every fifty years. Me, Vincent, and three other participated in it. Dr. Gero also entered and our teams fought. There was one problem with his team though, they were human zombies under his control, they were the results of his experiments. Experimenting on citizens, outside or inside of Makai was against the law. The Makai officials were going to arrest him but he resisted it and kept fighting until he got defeated by us. He was going to be executed after he lost but he got away. Vincent and I are detectives of the Makai and were sent here to retrieve Dr. Gero for execution.”
“I see...” Rick nodded. He then turned to Cloud. “Cloud? Do you have anything to say?”
“Yeah,” Cloud answered. “Hojo or Dr. Gero, whoever he is now, worked for the company that the rebel group I was in, the Shin Ra. He was a mad scientist and created a man named Sephiroth. Sephiroth was a person I used to admire, he was my role model, until... until he destroyed my hometown. Houses, buildings, everything was caught on fire. This is were Hojo comes in. After the fire was putted out in our town, Hojo arrived there with Shin Ra soldiers. He took the town survivors and no one knew what happened to them. Five years later, the whole town was back and there were these... these... these human zombies dressed in black capes. I believe that those were the town survivors and Hojo did something to them.”
“How about that Sephiroth guy? What happened to him after he destroyed your town?”
“Sephiroth left the town after he destroyed it and went to the mountains to get to an energy reactor. Me and my friend Zack followed him there. Zack attacked him when his guard was down but his attack was futile and he got injured. However, I attacked Sephiroth after that and successfully killed him. Again five years after that, Sephiroth appeared but I killed him again, that was a year ago. I came along in this journey to settle an old score with the Turks, but now, I’m after Hojo. I’ll make him pay for what he did to my people and for creating Sephiroth. If he didn’t create Sephiroth, maybe my town wouldn’t have been destroyed. My family, friends, and Aeris...” Cloud’s voice was trembling in his last statements.
“Cloud? You okay?” Rick asked.
“Yeah,” he answered quietly.
“Okay... I guess it’s my turn to tell my story,” Chunli chuckled nervously. “There’s really not much known about Bison’s scientist. All I know is that he erases the memories of people so Bison can influence them with his psycho power and control them. He also created cyborgs that Bison used as government spies and also to look for potential fighters to be psycho soldiers. I came along in this journey to get Bison’s scientist’s or Dr. Gero’s ass, it’s my job as an Interpol agent and also to avenge my father’s death, I know he was involved in it somehow.”
“And, me I just came along because, well, I have my reasons... Hmm, all of you guys are after the same person. There is something fishy about that...” Rick said.
“What do you mean?” Dennis asked.
“I mean, it’s no coincidence that all of us met each other. Anyway, enough about that, let’s get going.” All of them got up from their chairs and were about to leave the dining room. Then, they heard a voice calling them.
“Going to a party without me?” Vegeta smirked, standing behind a door with Arbok.
“Vegeta? I thought you weren’t going to come back,” Cloud said.
“Excuse me, but I didn’t come here to help your sorry butts track down a mad scientist. I just came because, well, that’s none of your business...”
“Well then, let’s get going. To the Highwind!” Cloud cried happily and ran outside with everyone following him from behind.
***
“I don’t think we’re flying the right way to Interpol’s headquarters. Where exactly are we going Cloud?” Chunli asked.
“To a village called Gongaga. I need to get some spare parts for the Highwind,” Cloud answered while piloting the airship.
“How long would it take us to get there?”
“Actually, we’re here.” Cloud landed the Highwind and they all went outside and found themselves in the plains.
“Where’s that village?” everyone asked.
“Uh, the village is deep in those forests and I can’t land the Highwind there. Don’t worry, it won’t take us that long to get there,” Cloud chuckled nervously.
“It better not,” Vegeta growled and they began to walk.
***
Chunli wiped some sweat from her forehead and sank to her knees. “Man, it’s hot in this forest,” she sighed.
“Maybe we should take a rest,” Rick suggested.
“Yeah,” everyone answered. Chunli heard water flowing somewhere, she got up and walked away to find it. She kept following the noise and found herself on the edge of a cliff. She looked down and found a river.
“No wonder I can hear it all the way from there. This river has a fast current,” she thought.
“Hey! What are you doing there?” Rick called out.
“Oh nothing. I just thought there was a river.”
“Is there? I’d like to get a cold drink of water.”
“There is, but it’s all the way down at the bottom of the cliff.”
“Oh...”
“What brought you two here? There’s nothing here except for cliffs and... and a river down below,” Vegeta said as he arrived with the others.
“How did you know there was a river?”
“Well, duh. I can hear it.”
“Well, well, well, if it isn’t the whole gang,” a voice chuckled from behind. It was Reno of the Turks. Tseng, Rude, and Elena then appeared too.
“It’s you guys again,” Cloud groaned. “What do you want this time?!!!”
“Oh nothing much except to eliminate everyone of you,” Tseng answered.
“It’s four against seven, you don’t stand a chance,” Vegeta growled at them.
“You’re in a mood to fight so let’s get started then,” Rude said. “Big Guard!” he yelled and they started glowing in yellow. Elena charged at Chunli and Rick, Rude and Reno charged at Arbok, Cloud, Dennis and Vincent, and Tseng was face to face with Vegeta.
Elena tackled Rick and was laying on top of him. “My this is comfy,” she giggled.
“Get off of him!” Chunli growled but Elena ignored her. “I SAID get off of him!” she screeched and charged at Elena with a kick.
Elena got up and the next thing she knew she was sent flying across the battle field. Chunli helped Rick get up and then glared at him. She charged at Elena again when she got up. “Senretsu Kyaku,” she yelled and stood on one foot and used the other to kick Elena. Everyone stopped fighting, all of them were watching Chunli’s rapid kicks land on Elena.
“That’s one tough babe,” Reno told Rude.
“Yeah,” Rude nodded.
“Had enough?” Chunli chuckled at Elena. Elena putted her hand on her face and then looked at them, they were covered with blood.
“My FACE! My beautiful face!” Elena screeched. “You’ll pay for THAT!” She took out a grenade of some sort and threw it on the ground. Smoke engulfed everyone, except for Rick, he was at the edge of the cliff so the smoke didn’t reach him. “Pandora’s Box Attack...” Elena yelled and then felt a hand on her shoulder, stopping her from doing her attack. “What is it?”
“We better go, we need to fix you up,” Tseng said.
“But this is our chance to finish them, they’re vulnerable right now.”
“Who cares? Right now we need to go and fix your face. That’s an order!”
“Okay...” Elena sighed. Tseng, along with Reno and Rude ran away. “Screw you Tseng! No one attacks me like that and gets away with it!” Elena growled to herself. She took out some weird gadget and putted it on the ground. “This will do perfectly,” she chuckled and ran away.
The smoke cleared away and Vegeta and company found the gadget that Elena left. “What is it?” Chunli coughed as she approached it. “Oh crap no! It’s a time bomb!” She looked at it again and saw it would explode in two seconds. She grabbed it and threw it in the air. The bomb blew up when it was thirty feet above from them. The explosion caused the ground to shake. Rick, who was at the edge of the cliff, the ground he was standing on began to crack.
“Huh?” he gasped as he heard a cracking noise and before he knew it, he fell on the raging river down below.
“RIIIICCCKKK!” Chunli screamed and ran to the edge of the cliff. “Come on Rick, please surface,” she panicked.
“He won’t surface, the river is moving too fast,” Dennis said.
“Ah, screw the river!” Chunli snapped and ran down stream. She stopped running when she got to the point where the river was calm. “Rick! RICK!” she cried, her voice echoing through the forest. “Huh?” she gasped as she saw something shining on the shore. She ran to it and picked it up, it was Rick’s shades.
